Understanding Your Monthly IT Health Report

6 min read
Updated June 2025

A guide to reading your monthly IT health report: what each section means, what scores to watch, and what to do when something is flagged.

Every month, Business and Managed plan clients receive an IT Health Report covering the status of their devices, security posture, software patch levels, and network performance. This report is generated automatically and reviewed by your account manager before delivery.

Report Sections Explained

  • Device Inventory: A list of every managed device (computers, servers, mobile devices) with its current OS version, last-seen date, and patch status. Red items are outdated or offline — these require attention.
  • Patch Compliance: Percentage of devices with current OS and software patches. A score below 90% means some devices may have exploitable vulnerabilities. We address anything below 85% proactively.
  • Security Alerts: Any threats detected and resolved during the month, including blocked phishing attempts, malware quarantines, and suspicious login attempts. Each alert notes whether it was auto-resolved or required manual intervention.
  • Backup Status: Confirmation that backups for all covered systems completed successfully. Failed or missed backups are flagged in red with an explanation.
  • Microsoft 365 Activity: New accounts created, accounts deactivated, and any MFA compliance issues for your Microsoft 365 tenant.
  • Uptime Summary: Network and server uptime percentages for the month. Anything below 99% is annotated with the reason and resolution.

Traffic Light System

Each section uses a simple traffic light system: Green means everything is healthy, Yellow means something needs attention within the next 2 weeks, and Red means something needs immediate action. If your report has any red items, your account manager will contact you within 24 hours of sending the report with a remediation plan.

What to Do When You Receive Your Report

  • Review all yellow and red items and confirm you understand what they mean.
  • Approve any remediation actions your account manager has recommended.
  • Raise any discrepancies — for example, if a device appears on the inventory that you don't recognize, report it immediately as it could indicate an unauthorized device on your network.

Reports are delivered on the first Monday of each month via email and are also available in your portal under Projects → IT Health Reports. If you'd like a walkthrough of your first report, ask your account manager to schedule a 20-minute review call.
