Cookie Policy

We believe in full transparency. This policy explains every type of cookie and tracking technology we use, why we use it, and exactly how you can control it.

01 Overview

BRANDED IAM ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") is a digital services company located at 2010 Crow Canyon Pl Suite 100, San Ramon, CA 94583. This Cookie Policy applies to our public website at brandediam.com and our client portal. It does not apply to third-party websites or services we may link to.

This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, local storage, and similar tracking technologies (collectively referred to as "cookies") when you visit our website. It describes what these technologies are, why we use them, and the rights you have to control their use.

This Cookie Policy is part of and should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. By continuing to use our website after we have notified you of our use of cookies, you are acknowledging that you have read and understood this policy.

If you have questions about this policy or would like to exercise your privacy rights, contact us at [email protected].

02 What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites function properly, operate more efficiently, and provide information to website owners.

Cookies do not contain personally identifiable information by themselves, but the data they collect can be linked to personal information we hold about you (such as your email address if you are logged in). Cookies can be set by the website you are visiting ("first-party cookies") or by third-party services whose code is embedded on that page ("third-party cookies").

Other Tracking Technologies We Use

Web Beacons (Pixel Tags)

Tiny invisible images or code embedded in web pages or emails that send a signal to our servers when loaded. Used to track whether emails are opened and whether you visit specific pages after clicking a link in an email.

Local Storage

A browser feature that stores data on your device — similar to cookies but with a higher storage capacity and no automatic expiration. We use local storage to remember your cookie consent preferences across sessions.

Session Storage

Similar to local storage but cleared automatically when your browser tab is closed. Used for temporary functionality like preserving form state during navigation.

Browser Fingerprinting

Collecting attributes of your browser and device (such as screen resolution, installed fonts, and browser version) to create a semi-unique identifier. We do not use browser fingerprinting on brandediam.com.

Cookies can be "session cookies," which expire when you close your browser, or "persistent cookies," which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

03 Types of Cookies We Use

We categorize cookies into four types based on their purpose. Essential cookies are always active because the site cannot function without them. All other categories are optional and require your consent where required by law.

Essential / Strictly Necessary Cookies

Always Active

These cookies are required for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are usually set in response to actions you take — such as setting your privacy preferences, logging into your client portal, or filling out a form. Without these cookies, the services you have asked for cannot be provided.

Examples

  • Session management and authentication tokens for the client portal
  • CSRF protection tokens that secure form submissions
  • Load balancing cookies that direct traffic to the correct server
  • Cookie consent preference storage (biam_cookie_consent)
  • SSL/TLS session identifiers provided by Cloudflare

Analytics / Performance Cookies

Optional — Consent Required

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our website. They help us understand which pages are most and least popular and how visitors move around the site. All information collected is aggregated and anonymous.

Examples

  • Google Analytics — measures page views, session duration, and traffic sources
  • Microsoft Clarity — records anonymized session replays and heatmaps to identify usability issues
  • Core Web Vitals monitoring — tracks page speed and performance metrics
  • Conversion funnel tracking — measures how many visitors complete contact or inquiry forms

Functional / Preference Cookies

Optional — Consent Required

These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you block these cookies, some or all of these services may not function properly.

Examples

  • Language and locale preferences
  • Chat widget state (if you have opened or minimized a chat session)
  • Form pre-fill for returning visitors who have previously submitted contact information
  • Video player settings if you interact with embedded video content

Marketing / Advertising Cookies

Optional — Consent Required

These cookies are used to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertising on other websites. They work by uniquely identifying your browser and device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising, but our ads may still appear — they will just be less relevant to you.

Examples

  • LinkedIn Insight Tag — enables retargeting to LinkedIn members and measures campaign performance
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel — enables retargeting on Facebook and Instagram and measures ad conversions
  • Google Ads — tracks conversions from Google search and display ad campaigns
  • Google Tag Manager — manages the deployment of all third-party marketing scripts

05 First-Party vs. Third-Party Cookies

Understanding the difference between first-party and third-party cookies helps you make informed decisions about your privacy preferences.

First-Party Cookies

Set directly by BRANDED IAM (brandediam.com) on your device. We have full control over these cookies and use them solely to operate and improve our own website and services. Examples include your session cookie, CSRF token, and consent preference cookie.

Third-Party Cookies

Set by external organizations whose code we have embedded on our website — such as Google, Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft, and Cloudflare. These organizations have their own privacy policies that govern how they use this data, and their cookies may track you across multiple websites.

We carefully evaluate every third-party technology we integrate and only add services that provide clear business value. We do not sell the data collected via our cookies to data brokers or unrelated third parties. Third-party cookies are only activated after you provide your consent (except where they fall under the essential category, such as Cloudflare security cookies).

06 Analytics Technologies

We use the following analytics tools to understand how our website is used and where we can improve the visitor experience. If you decline analytics cookies, these tools will not be activated.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043. We use GA4 to measure traffic, understand which pages visitors read, track how users navigate through our site, and measure conversions such as contact form submissions and free audit requests.

We have configured GA4 with IP anonymization enabled, meaning the last octet of your IP address is masked before it is stored. We do not use Google Signals or cross-device tracking features. Data collected by Google Analytics is subject to the Google Analytics Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy. Google may transfer data to the United States for processing.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Microsoft Clarity

Microsoft Clarity is a behavior analytics tool provided by Microsoft Corporation. Clarity records anonymized session replays (recordings of mouse movements, clicks, and scrolls), generates heatmaps showing where users click most frequently, and identifies points of friction where users abandon forms or navigation flows. We use this to improve usability and design.

Clarity does not capture keystrokes, passwords, credit card numbers, or other sensitive input fields. Microsoft masks this data automatically. Session recordings are retained for 30 days. Microsoft Clarity is subject to Microsoft's Privacy Statement. You can opt out at clarity.microsoft.com/opt-out.

07 Advertising & Marketing Cookies

When you consent to marketing cookies, we use advertising platforms to show you relevant ads after you visit our website, and to measure whether those ads result in meaningful business inquiries. Here is how each platform operates:

LinkedIn Insight Tag

The LinkedIn Insight Tag is a JavaScript snippet that allows us to track conversions from LinkedIn ads (such as someone visiting our website after clicking a LinkedIn ad), build retargeting audiences of website visitors, and gain demographic insights about our visitors who are LinkedIn members (such as job title, industry, and company size). LinkedIn may combine this data with other information it has about you from your LinkedIn profile. You can opt out of LinkedIn advertising at linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls.

Meta Pixel (Facebook & Instagram)

The Meta Pixel is a tracking code that helps us measure the effectiveness of our Facebook and Instagram advertising campaigns. It enables us to show retargeted ads to people who have visited brandediam.com, track whether someone completed a desired action (like submitting a contact form) after clicking one of our ads, and build lookalike audiences — new audiences that share characteristics with our existing visitors. Meta may use this data in accordance with its Data Policy. You can manage Meta advertising preferences at facebook.com/adpreferences.

Google Ads & Tag Manager

Google Ads conversion tracking allows us to see which of our search and display ad campaigns result in contact form submissions, phone calls, or audit requests. Google Tag Manager is a tag management system that allows us to deploy and manage our analytics and marketing scripts from a single interface without editing website code. Tag Manager itself does not collect data, but it controls which other tags are loaded on the page. You can control Google advertising preferences at adssettings.google.com.

09 Managing Your Cookies

You have multiple methods available to control or delete cookies. You can use our consent tool (described above) to manage category-level preferences, use your browser settings to block or delete specific cookies, or use third-party opt-out tools provided by advertising networks.

Please be aware that if you block essential cookies, portions of the website — including the client portal login and contact forms — may not function correctly. Blocking analytics and marketing cookies will not prevent the site from loading but will limit our ability to measure and improve our services.

Important Note

If you clear cookies from your browser, your consent preferences stored in local storage will also be cleared. You will see the consent banner again on your next visit and will need to re-submit your preferences. This is expected behavior and ensures your choices are always current.

10 Browser-Level Controls

Every major browser provides tools to view, block, and delete cookies. The steps vary by browser:

Google ChromeSettings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data

You can block all cookies, block third-party cookies, clear all cookies, or allow/block cookies for specific sites. Chrome also offers an enhanced protection mode under Safe Browsing.

Mozilla FirefoxSettings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data

Firefox offers Standard, Strict, and Custom Enhanced Tracking Protection. Custom mode lets you independently control cookies, tracking content, crypto miners, and fingerprinters.

Apple Safari (macOS)Safari → Preferences → Privacy

Safari blocks all cross-site tracking by default via Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP). You can also block all cookies entirely or manage per-site permissions through the website data manager.

Apple Safari (iOS)Settings → Safari → Privacy & Security

Prevent Cross-Site Tracking is enabled by default. You can also block all cookies and clear history and website data at any time.

Microsoft EdgeSettings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data

Edge offers Basic, Balanced, and Strict tracking prevention. You can also add specific sites to block or allow lists and clear cookies on close.

OperaSettings → Advanced → Privacy & security → Site Settings → Cookies and site data

Similar controls to Chrome. The Opera VPN feature also masks your IP address and prevents some forms of tracking.

For instructions on mobile browsers not listed above, refer to your device manufacturer's privacy documentation. For information on managing cookies in Internet Explorer or legacy Edge, refer to Microsoft's support documentation.

11 Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that sends a signal to websites requesting that your browsing activity not be tracked. Because there is currently no universally agreed-upon technical standard for what websites should do when they receive a DNT signal, our website does not alter its behavior in response to DNT signals at this time.

The Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a newer browser-level signal that is recognized under California law (CCPA). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. This means we will not activate marketing cookies in response to a GPC-enabled browser session, regardless of other consent preferences.

GPC is supported in browsers such as Firefox (with privacy.resistFingerprinting enabled), Brave, and via browser extensions like DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials. If you are in California, you can also exercise your opt-out rights directly by contacting us at [email protected].

12 Regional Rights

Depending on your location, you may have specific legal rights regarding cookies and the personal data they collect.

European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom — GDPR / UK GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and its UK equivalent, we must obtain your explicit, freely given, and informed consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device. You have the right to withdraw consent at any time. Our cookie consent tool is designed to meet GDPR standards, providing granular category-level consent, a record of when consent was given, and a mechanism to withdraw consent with equal ease.

Data collected via our analytics and marketing cookies may be transferred to the United States. Where applicable, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission to legitimize such transfers. For more detail, see the "International Transfers" section of our Privacy Policy.

California Residents — CCPA / CPRA

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information is collected about you via cookies, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, the right to delete personal information we hold, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

We do not sell personal information collected via cookies to third parties for monetary consideration. However, sharing data with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising may constitute "sharing" under CPRA. You may opt out of this by declining marketing cookies in our consent tool, sending a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, or contacting us at [email protected].

Other U.S. State Privacy Laws

Residents of Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), and other states with comprehensive privacy legislation have rights similar to CCPA residents, including the right to opt out of targeted advertising. You can exercise these rights by declining marketing cookies in our consent tool or by contacting us directly. We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.

13 Children's Privacy

Our website and services are directed exclusively at business owners and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). Our advertising and analytics tools are not configured for, and do not target, minors.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child under the applicable age threshold, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take immediate steps to delete the information.

14 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the technologies we use, legal requirements in applicable jurisdictions, or updates to our business practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

If we add new categories of cookies or new third-party providers that were not covered by your original consent, we will re-present the consent banner to allow you to review and accept or decline the updated scope. Minor changes — such as clarifications, formatting, or corrections — will not trigger a new consent prompt.

We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about how we use tracking technologies. Your continued use of the website after changes become effective constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated policy for any cookies that do not require prior consent.
