How to reset a Microsoft 365 password — either self-service if it's set up, or by requesting an admin reset from BRANDED IAM.
Microsoft 365 password resets can be handled two ways: self-service (if your admin has enabled it) or through our team. Here's how to do both.
Option 1: Self-Service Reset
- Go to aka.ms/sspr (Microsoft's self-service password reset page).
- Enter your Microsoft 365 email address and click Next.
- Verify your identity using the backup method you set up (phone number, authenticator app, or backup email).
- Enter and confirm your new password. It must meet Microsoft's complexity requirements (at least 8 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, and a number).
Option 2: Admin Reset (If Self-Service Doesn't Work)
Submit a ticket under IT Support & Security → Password Reset or call (925) 365-9811 if it's urgent. Our team can reset your password in the Microsoft Admin Center and provide you with a temporary password via a secure method. You'll be prompted to change it on your next login.
After Your Reset
- Sign out of all devices and sign back in with your new password.
- Update any applications that use your Microsoft 365 credentials (Outlook desktop, Teams mobile, OneDrive sync).
- If you suspect your password was compromised, inform our team so we can review your account's recent sign-in activity for unauthorized access.
