How to Request a Design Revision

2 min read
Updated June 2025

The right way to submit design feedback so revisions are clear, actionable, and processed quickly.

How you submit design feedback determines how quickly and accurately the revision is applied. Vague feedback leads to multiple back-and-forth rounds; specific, consolidated feedback leads to a revision that hits the mark the first time.

How to Submit a Revision Request

  1. Review the design file or preview link sent by your designer.
  2. Gather all your feedback before responding — don't send changes in multiple separate messages or emails.
  3. For each change, specify: what needs to change, where it is on the design, and what it should look like instead.
  4. Reply to the approval email from your portal or open a revision ticket referencing your project number.

Examples of Good vs. Vague Feedback

  • Vague: "The colors are off." → Specific: "The blue in the header should match our brand blue, which is #1A3C6E."
  • Vague: "Make it look more professional." → Specific: "Remove the drop shadow on the logo and increase the body font size to 16px."
  • Vague: "I don't like the layout." → Specific: "Move the contact form to the right column and make the hero image full-width."

Each project includes a defined number of revision rounds. Check your project proposal for your included rounds. Additional revisions beyond that are billed at the project hourly rate.
